Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well‑capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure‑play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin‑off is expected to be completed during 2025.
We are looking for a technical accountant who enjoys working in a fast‑moving environment in the Entertainment Industry. This role has a solid reporting line to the Senior Manager Financial Controller – Statutory reporting and Technical UK.
The assistant Financial Controller is responsible for assisting in the accurate preparation and timely dissemination of Financial Statements for 30+ NBCU entities in the UK. This assistant Financial Controller position is a statutory expert that assist the Business Units’ controllers in managing the local statutory audits and annual statutory filing process, filings to local regulatory bodies and any other external financial reporting required (e.g. Companies house, Statistics, Senior Accounting Officer declarations etc).
The assistant Financial Controller will work closely with representatives at senior level across all the International BU’s (Theatrical, Homevideo, Television Distribution, Networks) from various departments (Fin Ops, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Accounting, FP&A, Corporate Secretary).
The role will require someone with a “can‑do” attitude, excellent project management skills, technical skills and communication skills. The role has a strong advice function to the Financial Controllers of the various BUs to ensure they preserve the integrity of the financial records and process the transactions accurately and in accordance with the local statutory and tax requirements.
