Job summary

Pratap Partnership is seeking an experienced, part-qualified Assistant Finance Manager in Sheffield. The role offers hybrid working (1 day in the office, 4 days work-from-home) and a path to develop within a lean, growing finance team.

You will oversee day-to-day financial operations, including transactional finance, management accounts, cash flow and controls, while supporting VAT, year-end audits and process improvements. The ideal candidate is studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA or QBE.

• Experience with month-end processes and cash flow management is advantageous.

I am recruiting an experienced, Part Qualified Assistant Finance Manager for a successful business that is growing massively. This role will suit candidates who are currently studying, enjoy variety, who wants to work in a lean team and is keen to develop their career within a dynamic, industry.

The Job:

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, with involvement across transactional finance, management accounts, cash flow and financial controls.

Key responsibilities to include:

• Managing the purchase ledger, processing supplier invoices, preparing payment runs and resolving supplier queries.
• Raising sales invoices and maintaining accurate sales ledger records, including customer reconciliations.
• Working with the Commercial team on revenue share arrangements and related billing schedules.
• Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Posting accruals, prepayments and journals as part of the month-end process.
• Monitoring daily bank balances, supporting cash flow forecasting and producing weekly cash flow reports.
• Assisting with VAT returns, statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen financial controls and support the development of the finance function.
• Other ad hoc duties as required.

The Person:

• The successful candidate will be able to combine strong technical skills with a practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to take ownership in a fast-moving environment.
• You will be currently studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA or QBE.
• Experience working within a fast-paced SME or similarly lean finance team is essential.
• A good understanding of transactional finance, management accounts and month-end processes is required.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence using cloud-based accounting systems is essential.
