Job Title

Assistant Finance Manager

Responsible to

Department: Defence, Marine and Aerospace

This role profile is a guide to the work you will initially be required to undertake. It may be changed from time to time to incorporate changing circumstances. It does not form part of your contract of employment.

Overall Purpose of the Role

An influential and high-profile role delivering financial and commercial support across key Defence contracts. Through effective business partnering, the role will continually improve pricing and add value to commercial activities undertaken.

Key Accountabilities

PURPOSE: Commercial Support

  • Business Partner key stakeholders (financial and non-financial) ensuring strong commercial decision making.
  • Attend client meetings to update on pricing progress.
  • Ensure pricing consistency across Finance Assistants pricing within the team, providing assurance on our adherence to contract pricing framework.
  • Manage a uniform approach to balance sheet controls and month end activities across our Finance Assistant community.
  • Work with operators to ensure prompt commencement of requirements following commercial approval of contract changes.

PERFORMANCE

  • Provide regular updates on pricing progress both internally and to the client.
  • Support FBP on pricing of new business and organic growth opportunities.
  • Calculation of volumetric files across the 3 regions ensuring standardisation of the files and contractual compliance.
  • Support with completion of documentation for client tenders, negotiations and capital expenditure appraisals.
  • Support operational teams with understanding actions required on mobilisation of contract changes and ensure that these are executed in line with timetable.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis and modelling to improve our way of working.
  • You will ensure health and safety of all colleagues within the business and report any incidents via the approved company processes.

PEOPLE: Relationship Management

  • Support the development of junior team members and facilitate training courses for new team members.
Candidate Requirements: Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Industry experience gained within a multi-site multi-contract complex organisation.
  • Experience of management accounting inclusive of accounting adjustments, producing reports/analysis to support commercial decision making.
  • Analytical and with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience of business partnering non-finance professionals to support the delivery of sound financial information.

Desirable:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or QBE with varied experience in accounting roles
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Excel Macros and VBA
  • Experience of SAP and Cognos as analysis and reporting tools
