Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to support the Farm Manager in daily broiler farm operations on site in Chorley. You will supervise staff, track flock performance, maintain records and ensure biosecurity, welfare and production efficiency are upheld.

The role requires practical poultry farming experience, a Poultry Passport or equivalent certification, and flexibility to work weekends and longer hours as production demands. Competitive salary up to 34,000 GBP per year.

Qualifications

• Poultry Passport completed or in progress.
• Proven experience in broiler production or poultry farm management.
• Strong understanding of broiler nutrition, health, and welfare.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting.
• Physically able to work in a farm environment.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Farm Manager supports the Farm Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the broiler farm to ensure optimal bird health, growth performance, biosecurity, and production efficiency. This role involves supervising farm staff, monitoring flock performance, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.

• Farm Operations Management
• Assist in managing day:to:day broiler farm operations.
• Ensure proper feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting systems are functioning correctly.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air quality).
• Ensure proper stocking density and bird comfort.
• Bird Health and Welfare
• Monitor flock health and report abnormalities to the Farm Manager or Veterinarian.
• Ensure vaccination schedules and medication programs are followed.
• Observe birds daily for signs of disease, stress, or injury.
• Maintain high animal welfare standards.
• Biosecurity and Hygiene
• Enforce strict biosecurity protocols.
• Supervise cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses and equipment.
• Control farm access and ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Monitor pest and rodent control programs.

• Supervise and guide farm workers and attendants.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently.

• Track feed consumption, water intake, weight gain, FCR, and mortality rates.
