Job summary

Chesterfield Poultry is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to lead day-to-day broiler farm operations at our Boroughbridge site. You will oversee feeding, climate control, welfare, and production records while ensuring strict biosecurity and safety procedures.

The role requires proven broiler farming experience, strong welfare knowledge, and flexibility to work weekends. You’ll supervise staff, assist with health monitoring, and contribute to performance reporting and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Poultry Passport completed or in progress.
• Proven experience in broiler production or poultry farm management.
• Strong understanding of broiler nutrition, health, and welfare.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting.
• Physically able to work in a farm environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing day-to-day broiler farm operations.
• Ensure feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting systems operate correctly.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air quality).
• Maintain proper stocking density and bird comfort.
• Monitor flock health and report abnormalities to the Farm Manager or Veterinarian.
• Ensure vaccination schedules and medication programs are followed.
• Observe birds daily for signs of disease, stress, or injury.
• Maintain high animal welfare standards.
• Enforce strict biosecurity protocols.
• Supervise cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses and equipment.
• Control farm access and ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Monitor pest and rodent control programs.
• Supervise and guide farm workers and attendants.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently.
• Train new employees on farm procedures and safety practices.
• Maintain discipline and teamwork on the farm.
• Track feed consumption, water intake, weight gain, FCR, and mortality rates.
• Maintain accurate production records and daily reports.
• Assist in preparing performance reports for management.
• Monitor feed inventory and order supplies when necessary.
• Ensure farm equipment and machinery are properly maintained.
• Report maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local livestock regulations.
• Follow workplace health and safety standards.
• Ensure proper waste management and environmental compliance.

1. Farm Operations Management

• Assist in managing day-to-day broiler farm operations.
