Job summary

Berkeley Living is seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to support the Facilities Manager in maintaining building services across its portfolio. You will coordinate contractors, liaise with compliance and health and safety colleagues, and improve operational efficiency to provide a safe, comfortable resident environment.

Based on a hybrid role across Berkeley Living sites including Hendon, Wembley, Staines, Slough, Kidbrooke & Wood Green, you will handle routine work orders, inspections,

What You'll Be Doing

The Assistant Facilities Manager will support the Facilities Manager in maintaining building services, coordinating contractors, liaising with compliance and health and safety colleagues, and improving operational efficiency across the Berkeley Living portfolio. This is a proactive, hands-on role focused on maintaining high standards and supporting a safe, comfortable resident environment.

Day-to-day of the role

• Oversee routine work orders, inspections and recording actions, ensuring compliance and work completion is within SLA and to expected standards.
• Maintaining site documentation and compliance records are up to date
• Monitoring contractor attendance and completion quality, reviewing service reports and addressing remedial work by obtaining quotations and preparing recommendations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, monitoring utility, pest-control, landscaping, waste management and general safety and condition of the site
• Maintain a professional, resident-focused approach when coordinating works in occupied buildings and homes.
• Communicate clearly with operational teams so residents receive timely and accurate updates.
• Help ensure planned and reactive works minimise disruption and uphold Berkeley Living service standards.
• First-line handling of escalated facilities enquiries and complaints.
• Provide support to on-site team with maintenance queries and problems.
• Keeping track of expenditure and maintaining oversight of the budget. Assist in budget planning.
• Supporting sustainability data collection and recording.
• Raising and tracking purchase orders for planned reactive and remedial work across the portfolio.
• Escalating overdue, high-cost, safety-critical or technically complex matters to FM.
• Support technical and lifecycles projects as and when required.

Hybrid role split across the Berkeley Living portfolio - travel to sites would need to be via public transport or your own car.

Locations are: Hendon, Wembley, Staines, Slough, Kidbrooke & Wood Green.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in facilities management, building operations, maintenance coordination or a related property environment.
• Experience within Build to Rent, PRS or luxury residential settings would be advantageous.
• Good working knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience coordinating contractors and suppliers and monitoring service delivery.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
• Clear communication skills and confidence liaising with residents, colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
• A proactive, resident-focused mindset and willingness to work flexibly across a portfolio.
• A recognised health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH would be desirable.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
