Job Title

Assistant Director Student Organization Support

Location

Salary

$59,961 – $70,197

Basic Function

Provide direction and operational oversight for leadership involvement and advising initiatives for hundreds of student organizations to thrive and contribute to a vibrant campus community. Oversee and work closely with staff to cultivate enriching experiences for commuter students and support key campus events and traditions. Foster student leadership development and collaborate extensively with faculty staff and community partners. Reports to Associate Director Community and Belonging or designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties
  • Plan and implement leadership development opportunities for student leaders and student employees.
  • Oversee the current student engagement software platform.
  • Ensure compliance of student organization operations with university policies and procedures.
  • Serve as liaison between student organizations and campus administrators; assist in resolving conflicts.
  • Assist in program budgeting and planning for assigned organizations; monitor financial accounts of student organizations.
  • Facilitate successful program implementation by student organizations through providing expert guidance on best practices navigating campus procedures and efficiently processing work.
  • Manage and administer the annual student organization registration process, oversee the verification of membership rosters and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for commuter students.
  • Develop and implement targeted outreach strategies, including newsletters, campus media events and programming to connect commuter students with essential resources, campus services and enriching experiences.
  • Serve on various department/division and University committees as requested or assigned.
  • Represent the Associate Director in their absence.
  • Administer and document regular assessments that include student learning outcomes, event results, program reviews, monthly and annual reports, participation tracking and return on investment.
  • Implement practices that support Kent State recruitment, retention and persistence goals.
  • Supervise assigned unclassified staff and student employees, including recruitment, scheduling, performance evaluations and accountability.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel or a relevant field. Three years of professional experience in a student services area.
