North East Mayoral Strategic Authority is recruiting an Assistant Director – Finance & Procurement to deliver strategic financial leadership across the Authority. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Investment, the role supports the Mayor, Chief Executive and senior leadership in key financial decisions.

Key responsibilities include leading the MTFS and budget, overseeing capital programmes and treasury management, ensuring governance and statutory compliance, and producing statutory accounts

Qualifications

• CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with senior leadership experience in local government or public sector.
• Strong financial governance, advisory and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to lead teams and influence senior stakeholders through change.

Responsabilités

Assistant Director – Finance & Procurement

Salary: £103,912 – £110,109

NRG is delighted to be partnering with the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority to recruit an Assistant Director – Finance & Procurement.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Investment, this is a senior leadership role with responsibility for providing strategic financial leadership across the Authority and supporting the delivery of its wider regional ambitions.

You will support and, where required, deputise for the Director of Finance & Investment, providing advice to the Mayor, Chief Executive and senior leadership team on a broad range of financial matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the Medium-Term Financial Strategy and annual budget process.

• Overseeing capital programmes, treasury management and investment portfolios.

• Ensuring strong financial governance, controls and statutory compliance.

• Leading the production of statutory accounts and managing audit relationships.

• Providing strategic financial advice to senior leaders and elected members.

• Leading, developing and strengthening the finance function.

We are looking for a CCAB or CIMA-qualified accountant with significant senior finance leadership experience gained within local government, a combined authority or the wider public sector.

You will bring strong technical credibility, political awareness and sound judgement, together with the ability to lead people, influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively through change.
