Job summary

WR HVAC in Romford, Essex, is seeking an Assistant Design Manager for M&E building services. You will support design and delivery from concept through construction, collaborating with Design Managers and site teams to coordinate multidisciplinary work.

The role offers a clear progression to a full Design Manager position, with CAD/BIM drawing work, coordination duties and exposure to live M&E projects. Salary £50,000-£65,000 + package.

Qualifications

• Experience or qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or MEP.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• CAD/BIM experience and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of coordinated M&E designs.
• Produce and amend mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD/BIM.
• Assist with HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing, drainage, lighting, power and containment layouts.
• Support design calculations, equipment selections and technical schedules.
• Review drawings for clashes, discrepancies and design issues.
• Attend design and coordination meetings.
• Liaise with Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support RFIs and technical queries.

Assistant Design Manager - M&E

Romford / Essex

£50,000-£65,000 + Package

We're recruiting an Assistant Design Manager for a growing M&E contractor, with a clear progression route into a full Design Manager position.

The role will support the design and delivery of mechanical and electrical building services projects from concept through to construction, working closely with Design Managers, Project Managers, QSs, site teams and external consultants.

The Role

• Support the development of coordinated M&E designs
• Produce and amend mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD/BIM
• Assist with HVAC, ventilation, heating, plumbing, drainage, lighting, power and containment layouts
• Support design calculations, equipment selections and technical schedulesReview drawings for clashes, discrepancies and design issues
• Attend design and coordination meetings
• Liaise with Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
• Support RFIs and technical queries
• Assist with site surveys and construction-stage design issues
• Maintain drawing standards, revisions and document control
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, Building Regulations and relevant standards

The Candidate

• Experience or qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or MEP
• Good understanding of M&E building services
• Able to read and understand technical drawings
• CAD/BIM experience
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and organisation
• Keen to develop into a Design Manager
• Comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines
