Job description

Cognita and Alleyn’s Schools Group Partnership - Alleyn's Regent's Park:

Cognita has entered into a partnership with Alleyn’s to create two leading independent day schools in north London. Alleyn’s is south London’s finest coeducational day school, consistently placed within the top London schools for academic achievement and winner of the Independent Coeducational School of the Year Award 2025.

Cognita’s flagship London schools, North Bridge House Regent’s Park and North Bridge House Hampstead, form part of the new Alleyn’s Schools Group. Alleyn’s Regent’s Park opened in September 2025 and Alleyn’s Hampstead opened in September 2026.

Alleyn's Regent's Park is located in a historic, former convent on the edge of Regent's Park and currently educates children aged 3 to 11. The school prepares pupils for 11+ and introduced a new Pre-Reception class in September 2026. The school draws pupils from across north London from Finchley to Chelsea and Wembley to Hackney and is very well connected with Camden Town on the northern line, which is just a five-minute walk away.

The school now has a new exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Dance Teacher to join our fantastic team.

About Cognita:

Cognita is a global leader in independent education. Founded in 2004, we are a growing community of 90 schools in 21 countries - in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East - serving more than 100,000 students. Each of our schools are proudly unique, however our collective purpose is to create an environment where everyone can, "Thrive in a rapidly evolving world".

At Cognita, we know every student is unique. We nurture their distinct personalities and strengths. We support them academically, socially, and emotionally, wherever they are in the world, wherever they’re starting from. And each and every one of our schools is unique too.

We protect what’s special about them, while offering them rich knowledge, opportunities, and best practices. And they get to be part of something bigger. We open their classrooms to the collective wisdom of over 90 schools in 20 countries, ensuring every child gets an education that’s, quite literally, world class.

It’s an individual approach that empowers every school, teacher and student to focus on what they do best and thrive.

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Dance Assistant to help deliver engaging and inclusive Dance lessons for pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2. Working closely with the Lead Dance Teacher and Director of Performing Arts, you will support learning through small-group and one-to-one interventions, helping pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND, to thrive. You will assist with monitoring progress, providing encouragement and feedback, and leading rehearsal groups to build pupils' confidence and performance skills. The role also includes supporting school productions, performances and festivals through rehearsal, backstage and logistical assistance. As an ambassador for the school’s values, you will help create a positive and inspiring environment that fosters a lifelong love of Dance and encourages every pupil to participate and succeed.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 2 days a week.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual with a qualification, training, or relevant experience in Dance or Performing Arts, and experience working with children or young people in a dance, sports, creative, or educational setting. You will be a confident team player with strong dance skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils' learning and development. Reliable, organised, and adaptable, you will be comfortable leading small groups, assisting with rehearsals and performances, and working collaboratively with colleagues. Above all, you will have a warm and encouraging manner, a commitment to helping young people build confidence, and a genuine passion for inspiring a love of Dance.
