Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services invites applications for an Assistant Cook at Llangewydd Junior School. This 15-hour-per-week role supports the cook with the preparation of universal primary free school meals and helps manage day-to-day activities within the kitchen. Working hours are 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

Welsh language greeting is a requirement. You will cover for the Cook in their absence and at other schools within the County Borough.

Qualifications

• Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate required; training provided if necessary.
• Welsh language ability or willingness to greet customers in Welsh.
• DBS check (Enhanced with Children's Barred List) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing universal primary free school meals.
• Coordinate day-to-day kitchen activities and cover for the Cook when needed.
• Cover at other schools within the County Borough as required.

An exciting opportunity has become available within Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services department.

Catering Services provide meals in primary, special and secondary schools across the borough for pupils and staff via a service level agreement with the individual schools.

The successful applicant for the position as assistant cook at Llangewydd Junior School would support the cook with the preparation of universal primary free school meals and the management and co-ordination of day to day activities within this kitchen, ensuring a quality service is provided to all customers.

You will be expected to cover for the Cook in their absence and to cover at other schools within the County Borough.

An Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is required for this post. Training will be provided if necessary.

Working hours will be arranged between the hours of 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
