Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Sport. In particular, Scottish football.
  • Experience in creating multi-platform content and packages in both long and short form.
  • Knowledge of editing systems; in particular AVID newscutter and assist and Adobe Premier.

  • Ability to offer new and fresh ways of delivering content; both editorial and color-based.
  • Edit match highlights in a fast turnaround environment.
  • Generate fresh, modern ideas for informative sports programmes/features.
  • To watch and digitally log sporting action accurately.
  • Work with a VT Editor to edit highlights of sporting action.
  • Undertake administration duties relevant to the production's smooth running.

CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed Term Contract until 27th March 2026; Full-Time

DEPARTMENT: BBC Sport Scotland

LOCATION: Pacific Quay, Glasgow (office based)

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 28000-33000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Sport Scotland serves audiences across digital, television and radio covering football, rugby and a wide range of other sporting events and personalities. Sportscene covers Scottish football, and then some. Premiership, SWPL, Championship, Scottish Cup, European Qualifiers and Scotland internationals with live, highlights and analysis.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Content Producer to join the BBC SPORT Scotland team. Reporting to the Assistant Editor for Television, the Assistant Content Producer will assist in the preparation and production of creative for our television output plus original digital video content for online and social media.

We are looking for an Assistant Content Producer to join the team at a time of increased TV sport programming including live Scotland internationals, Scottish Cup and SPFL Championship coverage, Scottish Premiership & SWPL highlights. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Research/assist in the preparation and production of creative Sports content
  • Ability to offer new and fresh ways of delivering content; both editorial and colour‑based with a multi‑platform approach
  • Edit match highlights in a fast turnaround environment across our SPFL & SWPL coverage
  • Generate fresh, modern ideas for informative sports programmes/features
  • To watch and digitally log accurately sporting action, identifying what is important or useful; either as pre‑recorded material, or live at Pacific Quay Glasgow
  • Work in conjunction with a VT Editor, to edit highlights of sporting action into complete programmes, or programme inserts.
  • Knowledge and ability to use editing software – Avid Newscutter/Media Composer, Avid Assist/Media Manager desirable.
  • Undertake administration duties relevant to the production's smooth running where necessary.
