Assistant Construction Manager – Transmission & Distribution

Location: Chesterfield, MO.

Type: Permanent / Direct Hire

Overview

Our client is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of Transmission & Distribution projects within an Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) or Construction Management environment. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and other leadership to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are met. The position offers exposure to a diverse range of projects across industries such as power, energy, oil & gas, aviation, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in day-to-day project management, including safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Collaborate with the project team to implement and manage safety programs and ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
  • Support client interface, proposals, estimates, procurement, documentation, and turnover.
  • Help develop and execute project plans such as the Project Execution Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Quality Plan, and Procurement Plan.
  • Participate in contract and subcontract development, negotiation, and administration.
  • Support subcontractor and vendor selection through RFP preparation, bid analysis, and award recommendations.
  • Monitor field progress, maintain accurate project reporting, and assist in cost tracking and earned value analysis.
  • Coordinate site mobilization and demobilization, including permits, logistics, and materials management.
  • Conduct and assist with project audits, safety reviews, and quality inspections.
  • Contribute to project closeout activities, including documentation, warranty management, and lessons learned.
  • Maintain project documentation systems and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Targeted Years of Experience: 2-10

Certifications/Licenses/Software: Procore (not required), OSHA 30 (not required).

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction experience, preferably within Transmission & Distribution or EPC projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and project financial principles.
  • Must meet company driving requirements and be willing to travel as needed.
