We're looking for a motivated Assistant Construction Manager to join Co‑op’s Property team. It'll be up to you to support the Construction Manager by delivering a portfolio of capex projects on time, within budget and always to the highest standards of health and safety.
What you’ll do
- Take ownership of the delivery of all capex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, cost and quality standards are met, and change/risk are managed.
- Make sure that all projects are delivered to the latest safety standards and agreed ways of working.
- Lead a team of external suppliers and consultants to deliver projects.
- Develop relationships with key teams and partners across all areas of the business, including delivery, health safety and environment, PMO and strategy, acquisitions and disposals, and facilities management to name a few.
- Collaborate with procurement and contracts teams on supplier tenders and performance.
- Analyse the specific requirements of individual projects, considering delivery options and costs, and ensuring the short‑ and long‑term impacts are reflected in business delivery solutions.
- Support change programmes, taking ownership for deliverables.
- Manage day‑to‑day project deliverables, manage spend within approval and ensure SMSTS and UKATA asbestos awareness training (or interest in developing knowledge, which will be provided).
- Good understanding of construction project management.
- Strong project management skills – you’re organised, can prioritise your workload and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- The ability to work independently, and willingness to travel across the UK when required.
- Good general IT skills with the ability to use programmes in the Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with and influence partners at all levels of the business.
- A full valid UK driving licence.
£32,640 – £48,000 plus great benefits including company car (Work Level 6A)
Remote / Field‑based, covering the UK with regular travel and some overnight stays required.
