  • Proven experience designing and maintaining Power BI semantic models, reports and dashboards.
  • Experience assessing large datasets, identifying trends and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience collating, cleansing and validating data from multiple sources to ensure quality.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps; strong Excel skills.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Regulatory Affairs, Compliance and Enforcement (RACE) team as an Assistant (FCP) Compliance Analyst.

Our team is responsible for ensuring that APHA operates as an effective National Regulator and deals with a wide-ranging portfolio of work covering all aspects of regulation, compliance, and enforcement.

The Assistant Compliance Analyst role will be responsible for providing analytical services which support RACE objectives and priorities by focusing on targeted operational activities based on compliance history and emerging risks or threats.

The position is vital to ensuring that any data relating to non-compliance can be identified, collated and transformed into management information reports, allowing data to be evaluated and inform regulatory activities.

The postholder will be responsible for developing innovative reports using Microsoft Power BI software, identifying trends or patterns within the data and supporting the development of new datasets where gaps in compliance information have been identified. These reports should be underpinned by robust semantic models as a further requirement of the role.

Person specification

The following experience is required for the role -

Power BI Development and Data Modelling:

Proven experience designing, developing and maintaining Microsoft Power BI semantic models, reports and dashboards, producing high-quality analytical products that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Successful applicant will have or willingness to study towards Microsoft Certification Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)

Data Analysis and Insight:

Demonstrable experience assessing large and complex datasets, applying analytical techniques to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, risks and opportunities, and translating findings into actionable recommendations

Data Management and Quality:

Experience collating, cleansing, validating and processing data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and identifying gaps, inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement

Microsoft Power Platform and Digital Tools:

Practical experience of Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps, alongside strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

Stakeholder Engagement and Data Sourcing:

Proven ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, proactively identify and access relevant data sources, and translate business requirements into analytical solutions

Communication and Presentation Skills:

Ability to communicate complex analytical information effectively through reports, dashboards, presentations and verbal briefings, adapting style and content to technical and non-technical audiences

Professional Integrity and Delivery Focus:

Demonstrable ability to handle sensitive information appropriately, work with a high degree of integrity, and manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outputs independently and as part of a team

Compliance and Sector Knowledge:

Experience of working with compliance, regulatory, agricultural, livestock or other operational datasets, and an understanding of how data can be used to identify risks, monitor compliance and support evidence-based decision-making

The successful candidate will have the flexibility to turn their hand to different tasks and use problem-solving skills as the situation demands

Alongside your salary of £29,715, Animal and Plant Health Agency contributes £8,608 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
