AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer for the Design & Advanced Technology (DAT) Practice in the UK, based in Epsom with hybrid work. You’ll support multi-disciplinary design on iconic projects and grow toward chartership while collaborating with internal and external teams.

You will apply current design codes, engage with site visits, and contribute to technical deliverables, reports, and calculations within a supportive, diverse team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead a small team delivering technical design on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Collaborate with civil engineering and other teams on design deliverables.
• Work independently with technical guidance as needed.
• Apply engineering judgment to solve design problems.
• Provide guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
• Engage with UK and overseas teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to QA standards and check own work and others’ work.
• Prepare technical deliverables such as reports, specs, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.

We are looking for an energetic and zexperienced Assistant Civil Engineer to join our team within the Design & Advanced Technology (DAT) Practice of AtkinsRéalis. You’ll be part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team delivering cutting edge, iconic projects to a wide variety of clients within our growth markets of aviation, energy and water. We work with a range of domestic and international clients including the Environment Agency, Water Companies, Ministry of Defence, New Nuclear, Ports, investment banks and major developers. As a key member of our team, you will support delivery of integrated and sustainable design outcomes, enhancing environmental resilience while addressing engineering needs. You’ll also engage with computational design tools to standardize methodologies and enable accurate, efficient design at scale. We offer hybrid working which involves 3 days per week being office/site based. This position is based in our Epsom office.

Your role

The role will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience, and problem-solving skills whilst providing good opportunities for career development. As Civil Engineer in the D&AT practice, you would have the following responsibilities:

• Support or lead a small team in the delivery of technical design work on multi-disciplinary projects following relevant national and project specific design codes and standards, and to high-quality levels in areas of river, coastal, maritime and dams engineering.
• Collaborate with immediate civil engineering team, multi-disciplinary project teams and other internal and external related AtkinsRéalis teams on delivery of various size engineering design deliverables and projects.
• Work independently with some technical guidance.
• Use technical experience and judgement to solve design problems.
• Where appropriate and provide informal guidance to junior team members.
• Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design including check of own work as well as others.
• Responsible for inputting and/or preparing technical deliverables such as design reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work with defined scope.
• Attend sites, inspecting asset conditions and accompanying senior engineers on site.
