Job description

HC-One are looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a great understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. Beyond the technical skills, we value brilliant, positive energy and a natural ability to get along with others. Organization, meeting deadlines, presenting food attractively, following recipes perfectly and communicating with residents and colleagues with genuine consideration are essential. In this role you will provide outstanding support to the First Chef, take charge in their absence, manage food stock, work within budget constraints, coach colleagues and supervise kitchen clean‑up – all while keeping resident wellbeing at the forefront. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect, attend appropriate training, seek advice, report concerns and, if action is not taken, escalates them.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate: £12.92 – £13.27 per hour (subject to experience and qualifications).
