Job summary

Pennine Garden Centre is seeking an experienced and highly organised Assistant Centre Manager to work alongside the Centre Manager in leading our busy garden centre.

This hands-on leadership role is 37.25 hours per week, including alternate weekends, and requires a confident people manager who can motivate teams, maintain high operational standards, and ensure that procedures are followed consistently across the business.

Qualifications

• Significant management experience in a retail/garden centre or similar customer-focused environment.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
• Experience handling absence management, investigations and ER matters.
• A strong understanding of employment procedures and consistent application.
• Excellent IT skills with Word/Outlook and other systems.

Responsibilities

• Support overall management and performance of the garden centre, including The Blooms restaurant.
• Plan and administer staff rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Communicate, report and handle day-to-day administration using MS Office.
• Lead, motivate and develop colleagues; coach managers and supervisors.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and maintain a well-presented site.
