Job summary

Project People is seeking an Assistant Category Manager to join a growing Procurement team. The role is permanent, and Theale/Home – 3 days a week in the office.

You will support end-to-end Source-to-Contract processes, working with the Category Manager and stakeholders across IT, Digital, Finance, HR, Legal, Risk and other functions.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting sourcing activities (RFIs, RFQs, RFPs).
  • Strong supplier management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Keen eye for detail with good organisational skills.
  • Experience with IT, Digital or professional services procurement is desirable.
  • CIPS qualification or progress towards it is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Support and run RFIs, RFQs and RFPs.
  • Support commercial negotiations and contract renewals.
  • Maintain procurement pipelines.
  • Analyse pricing, spend and supplier performance.
  • Support supplier risk, governance and compliance.
  • Prepare procurement documentation and evaluation materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes.

Assistant Category Manager – IT, Digital & Professional Services

We’re looking for an Assistant Category Manager to join a growing Procurement team, supporting sourcing, supplier management, contracting and commercial activity across IT, Digital and Professional Services.

You’ll support the end-to-end Source-to-Contract process, working closely with the Category Manager and stakeholders across IT, Digital, Finance, HR, Legal, Risk and other business functions.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting and running RFIs, RFQs and RFPs
  • Supporting commercial negotiations and contract renewals
  • Maintaining contract and procurement pipelines
  • Analysing pricing, spend, savings and supplier performance
  • Supporting supplier risk, governance and compliance
  • Preparing procurement documentation, evaluation materials and recommendations
  • Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes and ways of working

We’re looking for someone with experience in procurement, purchasing, supplier management, contract administration or a commercial support role.

You’ll ideally bring:
  • Experience supporting sourcing or tender activity
  • Strong supplier and stakeholder management skills
  • Good commercial awareness and analytical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Good Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Exposure to IT, Digital, Professional Services or indirect procurement is desirable
  • CIPS qualified or working towards CIPS is a bonus
