Job summary

Phoenix Collegiate in West Bromwich is hiring an Assistant Caretaker to join the Site Management Team. The role involves maintaining the school premises and grounds, carrying out janitorial tasks, minor repairs and health and safety checks. You will also coordinate contractors, support events, and respond to alarms as a key holder.

Hours are 37 per week, year-round, with a permanent contract. Location: Phoenix Collegiate, Clarkes Lane, West Bromwich.

Qualifications

• Basic DIY skills and understanding of health and safety are required.
• Willingness to work independently and take initiative.
• DBS check and recruitment clearances are part of the process.

Responsibilities

• Locking and unlocking the school each day.
• Keep site tidy and presentable for users.
• Carry out minor repairs and routine building maintenance.
• Perform routine fire bell checks, emergency light checks and health/safety checks.
• Meet contractors on site and coordinate their work.
• Carry out general porter duties for events and settings.
• Be a named key holder to respond to alarms outside hours.
• Provide grounds maintenance support, including the 3G pitch.

Assistant Caretaker

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with good communication skills to join our existing Site Management Team.

Following completion of our school premises and grounds, our first-class sports facilities and community spaces offer additional excellent amenities to our students and the wider community. You will be responsible for helping to maintain the site and buildings, and for the overall provision of janitorial services and minor day to day repairs for the School

• Locking and unlocking the school
• Ensuring site is tidy and presentable for site users
• Carry out minor repairs and building maintenance
• Carry out routine fire bell checks, emergency light checks and other routine premises tasks, including regular health and safety checks across the site
• Meeting contractors on site and co-ordinating their work
• General porter duties to include setting up exam tables, assemblies and other school events
• Being a named key holder to respond to alarms outside of school hours
• Providing grounds maintenance support, particularly in relation to our 3G pitch

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has basic D.I.Y. skills, an understanding of health and safety and is motivated to work alone, using their own initiative.
