Assistant Buyer – Residential Developments – Northampton

Salary: £35,000 plus package
Location: Northampton/Bedford
Region: Bedfordshire

My client is a residential developer that specialises in luxury high‑end traditional build houses and apartments. They are looking to expand their team with the addition of an Assistant Buyer to support the current commercial team for their prestigious developments both future and present within the Northampton/Bedford area.

An office‑based position, you will report into the Senior Buyer/Commercial Manager and work closely with the procurement team on their current/new residential developments of new build homes.

As an Assistant Buyer you will procure materials to meet the build programme of this project.

Responsibilities
  • Procuring brickwork, carpentry and sanitary materials
  • Hiring plant e.g. cabins, forklifts, fencing, cranes etc.
  • Compiling monthly reports on budgeting control on all materials
  • Resolving supplier disputes
  • Supporting the estimating team with pre-tender quotations and resolving material specification issues
Qualifications
  • At least 1‑3 years of procurement experience with a residential property developer
  • Experience with procuring materials for new build developments
  • Some knowledge of construction techniques
  • Comprehension of building, environmental and disability standards
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven track record with stable UK employment and some exposure of residential construction with a recognised developer or company
