Job summary

Kier Group in Rushden, Northamptonshire, is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join the procurement team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role offers hybrid working (1 day per week in Rushden) and a 37.5 hour week.

You will support the team by raising purchase orders, expediting orders and building strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, the ability to work both remotely and in person, and solid negotiation and communication capabilities to

  • Negotiating rates and benchmarking high value requisitions to achieve cost savings.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and supporting operating units with pricing requests.
  • Maximising opportunities to utilise preferred suppliers and maintaining compliance with procurement processes.
  • Supporting environmental and social sustainability by considering green options and liaising with specialist teams.

Assistant Buyer Kier Group•Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

We're looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our procurement team based in and surrounding Rushden.

Location: Rushden - Hybrid working arrangement (1 day per week based in Rushden)
Hours: 37.5 - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Join our procurement team and help us deliver excellence as the "Procurement Centre of Excellence" for Kier. In this role, you'll provide vital support to our business units, raising and expediting orders whilst building strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. What will you be responsible for?

As an Assistant Buyer, you'll be working within the procurement team, supporting them in delivering a quality procurement service to Kier stakeholders. Your day to day will include:
