Overview

Hugh James, a highly ranked top 100 law firm based in the centre of Cardiff, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Auditor to join our Quality & Risk Department. The Quality & Risk team plays a central role in maintaining the firm's high standards of compliance, governance and client care. The team oversees quality assurance, regulatory compliance and risk management across the business, working closely with colleagues to support continuous improvement and best practice.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing regulatory non-financial file audits, to assist in verifying and ensuring compliance with the firm's internal control environment. The primary focus of this position will be compliance and operational audit activities, duties will include:

  • Performing quality and regulatory non-financial file audits within a file supervision database for compliance, operational and quality management system audits
  • Reporting on the audit findings and areas of non-compliance and identifying opportunities for enhancing internal controls and/or operational efficiencies
  • Prescribing corrective action to correct non-compliances
  • Prescribing preventative action to reduce the risk of repeated non-compliance
  • Maintaining audit records
  • Assisting the Quality Manager in preparing audit documentation for external audits
  • Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with all levels of management
Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience is not necessary as full training will be provided but the successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be methodical in their approach.

The role requires excellent organisational skills in order to work on various audits. The ability to make good judgments based upon observations and supporting information is essential.

The ability to understand quality and regulatory standards is essential and experience of working in a legal environment would be advantageous.
