Our renewables work includes solar, offshore and onshore wind, international interconnector and energy storage projects.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

Working closely with colleagues in the Landscape Team and multi‑disciplinary colleagues you’ll be solving problems that deliver successful project outcomes for our clients across a wide range of sectors throughout the UK. The work includes site and desk‑based work and typically includes:

  • Attending sites and conducting tree surveys in accordance with BS 5837 using tablet‑based data capture software.
  • With support and guidance of colleagues, writing and collating tree‑related reports, schedules and plans including Tree Surveys, Impact Assessments (AIA) and Method Statements (AMS).
  • Working closely with arboriculture colleagues, multi‑disciplinary colleagues and project teams to help deliver successful project outcomes.
Your Impact in This Position

In the short term, you’ll establish a good working relationship with colleagues in the Arboriculture and Landscape Team, and other disciplines within the office. You will have the opportunity to immediately contribute to project delivery and fee‑earning work supporting projects throughout the UK. You will also have the opportunity to project‑manage your own projects appropriate to your level of experience.

Over the medium term, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your career with greater responsibility for project management of larger arboriculture projects and developing client relationships that support a fulfilling career and contribute to profitable project outcomes. Working on multi‑disciplinary projects you will also be able to develop working relationships with colleagues in other disciplines to support bids and secure new commissions.

In the long term, subject to performance, you’ll have the opportunity to continue to develop your career further with the potential to move into management roles within the Arboriculture and Landscape Team.

Tree Surveys

The position requires an enthusiastic arboriculturist who, with the support of colleagues, can competently undertake tree surveys in accordance with BS 5837 across a wide range of sectors.

AutoCAD and Associated Software

The role requires experience of, or an aptitude and enthusiasm to use, computer tablets to capture survey data. Consequently, you will need an understanding of AutoCAD and/or tree‑survey related software such as AxciScape. Training will be provided for AxciScape software, but you will ideally have some knowledge and experience of CAD software.

Project Management and Organisational Skills

Reflecting the level of experience, the position will have responsibility for small to medium‑sized projects under the direction of a more senior team member. Applicants will need to have good organisational and project‑management skills.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Understanding of BS 5837:2012 ‘Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction – Recommendations’.
  • Good tree identification.
  • Experience of conducting tree surveys and preparing reports including, with guidance from colleagues, Impact Assessments (AIA) and Method Statements (AMS).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD and/or similar tree‑related software.
  • Able to work independently to meet project deadlines.
  • Commitment to regular travel throughout the UK, with the potential for occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driving licence essential.
Working Environment

The position involves a mix of site and office‑based work with the expectation that a higher proportion will be on site. Hybrid working arrangements are offered with an expectation (if not otherwise on site) to be in the office at least 1–2 days per week.

In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace.
