Brief Description

12 Month Fixed Term opportunity for an Assistant Analyst (Energy Bureau) to join the Shared Services team who deliver a range of specialist processes that directly influence the performance and experience of our customers and suppliers at Network Rail. Services include payroll, accounts, finance, controls and compliance, reporting, recruitment, and helpdesk support.

Assistant Analyst (Energy Bureau)

Salary: £26,936 per annum (band 5)

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: This role is based in Milton Keynes and requires 3 days per week in the office. You must live within 75 minutes of The Quadrant, Milton Keynes.

Role Overview

This role is centered on providing administrative support with a strong focus on reconciling utility invoice payments and maintaining accurate records across energy-related processes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Validate utility invoices (electricity, gas, water) and manage supplier billing queries.
  • Create and maintain tenant billing records and invoices.
  • Raise purchase orders and ensure prompt payment of invoices to suppliers.
  • Generate bills for external customers receiving utility supplies from Network Rail through the off‑charging process.
  • Resolve queries from internal and external customers.
  • Upload data and documents and update the Energy Link database.
  • Monitor, measure, analyze, and report energy usage.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of processes and services.
What would make you ideal?
  • Experience with utility invoicing from a supply or customer environment.
  • Effective customer service experience, confident and professional query management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VBA macros.
  • Solid understanding of invoice creation and experience within the utility industry.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, capable of presenting information clearly.
  • Experience extracting and reporting data from multiple sources, including databases.
What could set you apart?
  • Previous experience in utilities management, accounts payable, financial processes, energy management or a bureau-related role.
  • Creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience with Systems Link/Energy Manager.
