Job summary

Langham Hall Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support a portfolio of clients within the accounting team. You will maintain client files, perform bank reconciliations, and handle bookkeeping on SUN systems for funds, companies and trusts.

The role involves preparing management accounts, investor capital accounts, and assisting with annual financial statements (UK GAAP/IFRS) and audits, including VAT returns. Strong Excel/Word skills and a proactive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

  • Educated to at least ‘A’ level standard and GCSE Maths and English, with willingness to study toward a professional qualification.
  • Experience in bookkeeping and accounting is desirable but not essential.
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel and Word skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electronic and paper files for allocated clients.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all client accounts.
  • Bookkeeping on SUN systems for funds, companies and trusts.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts for allocated clients.
  • Prepare investor capital accounts and respond to investor queries and confirmations.
  • Assist with annual Financial Statements (UK GAAP/IFRS) and audits, both audited and unaudited.
  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Support senior staff with audits and process improvements.

Assistant Accountant

Department: Accounting

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Jersey

Reporting To: Accounts Manager


Description

The individual will work in a team servicing the needs of a portfolio of clients. There will be a number of responsibilities as outlined below;


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of all electronic and paper files for allocated clients;
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations for all client accounts;
  • Bookkeeping on SUN systems for allocated Fund structures (RE & PE), companies and trusts;
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts for allocated clients;
  • Preparation of Investor capital accounts;
  • Preparation of ad hoc Investor queries and confirmations;
  • Preparations of annual Financial Statements (UK GAAP/IFRS, audited & unaudited);
  • Supporting senior staff throughout the audit process;
  • Assisting with team projects including updates to processes and record keeping procedures;
  • Preparation of VAT returns.

Qualifications

  • Educated to at least ‘A’ level standard or equivalent (3 Grades A-C / 9-4), and GCSE Mathematics and English (Grades A-C / 9-4), and a willingness to study towards a relevant professional qualification.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous bookkeeping and accounting knowledge/qualifications desired but not essential;
  • Wishes to start studying toward ACCA;
  • Relevant practical work experience would be an advantage;
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and clients;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations;
  • Intermediate / advanced excel and word skills required;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Numeracy and good written skills.
