Job summary

ACCA Careers is seeking an Assistant Accountant for a fast-paced, multi-site role in Hertfordshire. You will support the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and robust record-keeping across venues.

You will analyse trading data, assist with management accounts and year-end activities, and act as a business partner to operations while ensuring controls and timely payments.

Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-site entities.
  • Strong transactional accounting with double-entry, posting journals and sales reconciliations.
  • Experience in a fast paced high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Good commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the finance function for a portfolio of venues.
  • Process and review weekly trading data, ensuring accuracy and timely bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow, treasury activities, and ensure financial controls are adhered to across sites.
  • Assist with management accounts preparation, reporting, reconciliations, and year-end audit activities.
  • Analyse trading performance, identifying anomalies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with operational teams, acting as a key finance contact and business partner.
  • Support purchase ledger, credit control, and payroll processes to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with weekly payment runs and ensure appropriate authorisation and compliance procedures are followed.
  • Compile trading statistics and provide financial insight to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc finance projects and wider business initiatives.

A high volume, fast paced Assistant Accountant role in Hertfordshire within the Hospitality industry, you'll handle day-to-day financial tasks to keep the accounts running smoothly. This role will see you supporting the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

A Successful Assistant Accountant Should Have
