Job description

Salary: £45,943 per annum

Location: Hampshire

Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced property professional with a passion for surveying, building performance, and improving homes? We're looking for an Asset Surveyor to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract to play a key role in maintaining the quality, safety, and sustainability of our housing portfolio.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll undertake stock condition surveys, energy assessments, and retrofit assessments, providing essential data that drives investment decisions, planned maintenance programmes, and energy efficiency improvements. You'll work across a diverse range of residential properties, ensuring our asset information remains accurate, compliant, and fit for the future.

As an Asset Surveyor, you will:
  • Carry out stock condition surveys, validations, and property inspections across our housing portfolio.
  • Collect, identify, measure, and record building attributes to maintain accurate asset information.
  • Undertake Energy Performance Assessments and calculate SAP ratings, ensuring compliance with current legislation and complete Retrofit Assessments to support energy efficiency and decarbonisation programmes.
  • Identify Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
  • Update and maintain stock condition, planned maintenance, and energy management databases with accurate survey information.
  • Produce floor plans and supporting property information for Right to Buy, Right to Acquire, staircasing, and home ownership transactions.
  • Monitor property condition and provide technical advice relating to defects, structural issues, tenant permissions, and remedial works.
  • Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and contractors following incidents such as flooding, fire, subsidence, and other insured events.
  • Compile reports and provide professional recommendations to support asset management and investment planning.
About you

You will bring to the role a HNC in Construction, Design, Architecture, or a related Built Environment discipline.

You will hold at least two of the following:

  • Accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
  • Accredited Retrofit Assessor.
  • Experience in carrying out surveys and assessing Housing Health and Safety Rating System(HHSRS) and Decent Homes

You will have a strong knowledge of residential construction and property maintenance, with experience of surveying occupied residential properties.

You’ll consider yourself to have excellent attention to detail and data accuracy, with a strong report-writing style.

You will be a great communicator, with the ability to make strong working relationships.

You’ll have confidence working with surveying, asset management, and energy management systems.

This is considered a hybrid role, so when you are not out and about you will be able to base yourself from home if you wish.

You will be suitably based for this predominately Hampshire based role, noting that you may be required to travel within the wider operating region from time to time. You will hold a full UK driving licence and will have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
