Global Market Strategist, Market Insights team – VP

The Market Insights team is a global investment strategy group focused on macroeconomic issues that impact financial markets. The team formulates and communicates market and economic insights to a wide range of clients, the media and internal partners on behalf of the global J.P. Morgan Asset Management business. Led globally by Dr. David Kelly and in EMEA by Karen Ward, the team has strategists and market analysts based inNew York, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Milan, Frankfurt, Paris, Melbourne, Tokyo and other locations.

The team delivers its views via the Market Insights Programme, a comprehensive offering to clients including the flagship “Guide to the Markets” chart pack, roadshows and webcasts as well as other regular publications.The programme is currently delivered to clients in more than 30 countries around the world.

The Market Insights team’s most important goal is to help investors make better, more informed investment decisions. We pride ourselves on clear, concise communication, and we anchor our views in data-driven analysis.

Role Summary

This role represents an exciting opportunity for you to play a key role in one of Asset Management’s flagship teams. While the role will primarily be focused on engaging with UK-based clients, you will be confident in analysing and discussing developments in the global economy and markets.

You will be responsible for contributing to the team’s research efforts, as well as disseminating the team’s views on economics and markets to clients, the media and internal partners. You will not only have prior experience either within an investment strategy, research or market-facing function, but you must also be an excellent communicator, and able to both educate and engage a range of client types and audience sizes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the team’s macro and market research efforts, adding intellectual value to the team debate and conducting high-quality research to help inform the team’s views.
  • Participate in the production and oversight of regular client‑facing materials, including the Guide to the Markets, On the Minds of Investors research papers, and bi‑annual Investment Outlooks.
  • Present to clients in a range of formats to discuss the outlook for the global economy and financial markets, including a recurring UK client roadshow.
  • Partner with internal investment desks to exchange views and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Educate client advisers on economic and market issues, demonstrating how to use the resources available through the Market Insights programme to address a range of topics and tie them to investment solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • A strong academic background with a university degree, ideally in economics, finance or a similarly technical subject. CFA / CAIA or similar qualifications are a plus.
  • Fluency in English is required; ability to speak other languages is a plus.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the proven ability to effectively convey complex ideas with passion and clarity.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and economics; demonstrable examples of economic or market research are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, LSEG Workspace / Datastream or other market data services.
  • Willingness to travel (including overnight).
  • Five to seven years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in engaging with the media is preferable but not essential.
