Assembly Technician

Location: Leamington Spa, Warwickshire
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract (Extensions possible)
Salary: £17.63 per hour (to be uplifted to be paid via UMBRELLA PAYE payroll model)
Hours: Day Shift

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assembly Technician to join the Performance Products division on a 6-month contract. Working within a specialist low-volume manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for assembling and preparing gearboxes and axles used in high-value driveline systems for a diverse range of customers.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and experience working to strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, prepare and build gearboxes and axles for low-volume, high-value driveline products.
  • Carry out mechanical and hydraulic assembly tasks to defined specifications.
  • Support end‑of‑line testing activities where required.
  • Use measurement tools such as verniers and micrometres to verify component and assembly accuracy.
  • Follow all quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures with precision.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and elevate issues appropriately, contributing to problem‑solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Effectively manage workloads to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and system inputs as part of the build process.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
  • Strong mechanical assembly and/or test background.
  • Experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in using measurement equipment (vernier, micrometre, etc.).
  • Understanding of automotive quality control processes.
  • Ability to navigate basic systems, follow structured processes, and complete a variety of tasks accurately.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work proactively.
  • Time‑served apprenticeship or equivalent relevant experience (preferred).

Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The Umbrella Pay Rate offered is inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay and Apex Recruitments contribution towards Employer Costs.
