Job summary

Quell in the United Kingdom seeks an Assembly Technician to support the assembly of precision mechanical, optical and electronic assemblies. The role involves following engineering drawings and documented workflows, with the ability to prototype without guides when needed.

You will work on-site in the Greater Cambridge area, contributing to high-precision builds for defence and security applications. The successful candidate will join a fast-paced team, perform soldering and cable harness tasks,

Qualifications

• Experience in electronics, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• Experience in mechanical assembly and/or optical/electronic assembly in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
• Soldering electronic components, cable harnessing and wiring assemblies.
• Experience following quality assurance processes and reporting non-conformances.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with iterative improvements.

About the Company

Quell is a high-growth British defence and security AI technology start-up developing solutions to counter drone, vehicle, and human threats across the military, civilian and critical national infrastructure sectors.

We are currently seeking a Assembly Technician to support the assembly of precision mechanical, optic & electronic assemblies.

The successful candidate will assemble components according to engineering drawings, and documented workflows, while also being able to demonstrate intuition while assembling prototypes without drawings or guides.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical, optical and electronic assemblies according to established documentation and work-flows

• Perform soldering, wiring, cable harness assembly, and mechanical integration tasks

• Use tools (hand/power) and precision instruments to assemble components accurately

• Ensure work is performed with great attention to detail and cleanliness

Requirements

• Experience in electronics, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field

• Experience in mechanical assembly and/or optical / electronic assembly in a manufacturing or workshop environment

• Location: North Uttlesford / Greater Cambridge area, on-site
• Five days a week on-site (ie: this is not a hybrid role)
