Job description
Youth Years Leader (Europe)

You will lead Ashoka’s efforts across Europe to reform the institutions that shape how young people grow up and ensure every young person leaves secondary school having mastered the four Changemaking elements: Conscious Empathy, Sophisticated Teamwork, New Leadership, and Practicing Changemaking.

Specifically, you will create strategic and deeply rooted partnerships with ministries of education, public school systems, teacher unions, educational publishers, teacher training schools and other relevant organizations to put Changemaking at the core of their strategies. A key ambition is to quantifiably influence the education systems and youth‑focused media to prioritize graduating Changemakers through new curricula, syllabi and related teaching materials.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of strategic partnerships with influential stakeholders such as ministries of education, public school systems, teacher unions, educational publishers, and teacher training schools.
  • Advocate for and embed Changemaking in national and local education strategies, curricula, and assessment frameworks.
  • Use the Ashoka Young Changemakers (AYC) playbook to engage and co‑create new models of Education that embed Changemaking at all levels.
  • Track and report on progress against defined metrics, including the percentage of secondary‑school students who self‑identify as Changemakers and the proportion of school leaders who define success by graduating changemakers.
  • Prepare and present briefings to senior education stakeholders and internal leaders to secure commitment and sustain long‑term partnership agreements.
Success Metrics

Success in the first year would involve: (a) signing two partnership agreements with influential players and (b) advancing at least one place‑based model that is tracking toward decreasing direct support from Ashoka. Within five years, progress should be evident on the two societal metrics described above.
