Location and Contract

Location: Isleworth, TW7. Contract: Full-time. Setting: Primary School – Mainstream with ASD Unit. Requirement: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Role Overview

The SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils with ASD in 1:1 and small group settings, assisting with learning, communication, sensory needs, and social development. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to deliver inclusive learning experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to behaviour regulation.
  • Implement structured routines.
  • Use appropriate communication or visual support strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and external professionals.
Candidate Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with children with ASD, ideally within a school or specialist provision.
  • Knowledge of communication approaches such as visual supports, PECS, structured teaching, or sensory strategies (desirable).
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships and provide consistent support.
  • Confidence working across different environments, including the ASD unit and mainstream classrooms.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, flexible approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required (or willingness to obtain one).
