Job description
Role Overview

As Asbestos Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing specific technical support and advice to the Council (Duty Holder) on asbestos.
  • Managing asbestos so that the Duty Holder complies with the Asbestos Regulations 2012.
  • Ensuring delivery of a programme of annual surveys, to be agreed with the Council.
  • Organising and managing asbestos removal/remedial works by licensed third parties.
  • Provision of the same in relation to services to schools as appropriate.
  • Ensuring formal governance, reporting, escalation and control systems are embedded on the contract and implemented throughout the wider team.
  • Providing a corporate focus for Asbestos Management and arranging the necessary training for Duty Holders and responsible personnel.
  • Demonstrating thorough knowledge of asbestos legislation and asbestos management.
  • Managing contracts for asbestos removal work and demonstrating full knowledge of removal procedures through experience.
  • Holding an asbestos training certificate P402, P405 or 406.
  • Being able to work unsupervised to a high quality.
  • Having good organisational skills and being able to meet tight deadlines.
