Job summary

Randstad CPE is partnering with a safety and compliance business to recruit an experienced Asbestos Laboratory Analyst in Stoke. You will analyse bulk material samples for asbestos, manage your workload to meet daily KPIs, and produce precise reports in both print and electronic formats.

You will uphold QC/QA schemes to maintain UKAS accreditation and your authorisation status, participate in meetings, and support trainees while ensuring calibration and proper use of all lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BOHS P401 (or the RSPH equivalent).
• Proven experience in asbestos and/or analytical industries.
• Highly methodical, process-oriented with fantastic attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously while supporting the wider team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and thoroughly analyse bulk material samples for asbestos content.
• Manage own workload and help colleagues hit sample KPIs (≈70 points per day).
• Record test observations and data to produce reliable reports in hardcopy and electronic formats.
• Maintain QA/QC schemes and UKAS accreditation status.
• Attend technical meetings, communicate with stakeholders, supervise trainees, and liaise with client representatives as needed.
• Ensure lab equipment is properly used, maintained, and calibrated.

Salary: £27,000 - £29,000

What you'll actually be doing day-to-day:

• You'll be responsible for receiving and thoroughly analysing bulk material samples submitted by field staff and third parties for asbestos content.
• You'll manage your own workload and help your colleagues hit sample KPIs, comfortably aiming for a satisfactory completion of around 70 points each day.
• You will accurately record your test observations and data to produce highly factual, reliable test reports in both hardcopy and electronic formats.
• You'll stay on top of your quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) schemes, playing a vital role in maintaining the lab's UKAS accreditation and your own authorisation status.
• You won't just be stuck behind a microscope all day; you'll attend technical meetings, communicate with internal stakeholders, supervise trainees, and occasionally liaise with client representatives to provide factual, impartial advice.
• Owning your workspace: You will ensure all lab equipment is properly used, well-maintained, and continuously compliant with its calibration status.

What you need to bring to the table:

• Must hold a BOHS P401 (or the RSPH equivalent).
• Beyond the essential qualification, you need to have proven experience working within the asbestos and/or analytical industries.
• A person with a highly methodical attitude, process-orientated, and who boasts fantastic attention to detail.
• Comfortably work under your own initiative while remaining flexible and reliable for the wider team.
