Key Responsibilities

Looking for a career that combines technical expertise, hands‑on fieldwork and professional development? This is an opportunity to join an experienced Asbestos Consultancy Team and build a rewarding career in a highly regulated, safety‑critical sector.

  • As an Apprentice Asbestos Surveyor & Analyst, you will support the delivery of asbestos surveying, air monitoring, sampling and analytical services across a varied portfolio of client sites.
  • Working alongside experienced surveyors, analysts and technical specialists, you will gain practical experience while completing a Level 3 Asbestos Analyst & Surveyor Apprenticeship.
  • The role offers exposure to a wide range of sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and public sector environments.
  • You'll contribute to projects ranging from asbestos management surveys in occupied buildings to refurbishment and demolition surveys supporting major construction and redevelopment projects.
  • As part of your development, you will assist with site inspections, air monitoring activities, sample collection, data management and technical reporting, while developing a strong understanding of industry legislation, accredited quality systems and best practice standards.
  • Regular interaction with clients, contractors, colleagues and building occupiers will form an important part of the role, ensuring projects are delivered safely, professionally and to the highest technical standards.
Core Capabilities
Technical Learning Agility
  • You will thrive on developing specialist technical knowledge and applying it within real‑world environments. This role will suit someone who enjoys learning, solving technical challenges and building expertise within a regulated industry. A genuine commitment to personal development and achieving apprenticeship milestones will be key to your success.
Health, Safety and Compliance Focus
  • Safety sits at the heart of everything we do. You'll develop a detailed understanding of health, safety and regulatory requirements while working within a highly controlled environment. Success in this role requires a disciplined approach, strong attention to detail and a commitment to following procedures that protect colleagues, clients and the wider public.
Data Accuracy and Technical Reporting
  • High‑quality technical work relies on accurate information. You'll learn how to collect, manage and document survey findings, sample data and project information with precision. You'll be encouraged to ask questions, investigate challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. An enquiring mindset and a desire to understand how things work will help you develop into a trusted technical professional.
About You

You’re someone who prefers being out on site rather than behind a desk, and you’re comfortable working in environments like construction, demolition, or industrial settings. Early starts, travel, and changing locations don’t put you off — in fact, you enjoy the variety and the sense of purpose that comes with hands‑on work.

You take safety seriously and understand the importance of following procedures properly. Working to strict rules, method statements, and risk assessments feels natural to you, and you don’t cut corners. You’re calm, focused, and able to stay composed even in regulated environments where inspections, audits, or oversight are part of the job.

You’re practical by nature and learn best by doing. Repetition and routine don’t bother you — you see them as part of building consistency and getting things right every time. You’re comfortable using equipment, following technical processes, and working in PPE or RPE for extended periods when required.

You can work independently once trained, taking responsibility for your tasks, but you also communicate clearly with teammates and supervisors to make sure work is completed safely and correctly. You’re motivated by doing work that matters — contributing to environmental safety, compliance, and protecting public health.

You value clear expectations, stability, and progression. You’re interested in building a long‑term career, developing your skills step by step, and moving forward into roles such as surveyor or analyst over time.

Please note: You must be 18+ due to the nature of the working environment
Please note: A full UK manual driving licence is required for this role

Apprenticeships are designed to provide new knowledge, skills and behaviours, so applicants should not already hold a Level 3, degree or higher qualification in a closely related subject, or have significant experience in the same field.

So how does the apprenticeship work?

Start your career as an asbestos site technician and gain hands‑on experience supporting essential surveying, air monitoring, and inspection work in real‑world environments.

As part of this Level 3 Asbestos Site Technician apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to carry out asbestos surveys, air monitoring, and clearance activities, applying recognised industry methods to produce accurate, compliant, and legally defensible results.

Over 12 months, you’ll combine day‑to‑day experience in your role with structured training delivered by expert tutors at Tiro. Our blended learning approach includes a mix of online sessions, in‑person training, and hands‑on support, alongside guidance from a dedicated mentor in the workplace.

You’ll spend at least 6 hours per week on off‑the‑job training, including virtual learning, practical activities, and applied assignments.

What your training will look like:

You’ll follow a structured programme combining live sessions, online learning, and hands‑on workplace training to build your skills step by step.

What could your future look like?

This apprenticeship will help you build the skills and experience needed to start your career as an asbestos site technician and progress within the asbestos management industry.

Through hands‑on training, you’ll develop the competence and confidence to carry out asbestos surveys, air monitoring, and clearance testing in line with regulatory requirements. You’ll work in safety‑critical environments, following strict compliance standards and contributing to protecting people, property, and the wider environment. This programme can also lead to professional recognition, such as becoming a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).

You’ll gain experience that’s highly valued in a regulated and essential industry, opening up opportunities to grow and specialise within asbestos surveying, air monitoring, and related technical roles.
