Overview

Artistic Director Opportunity – Peterborough Singers

The Peterborough Singers is seeking an Artistic Director to begin in the 2026–2027 season (onboarding and season planning duties in late winter and early spring 2026). Founded in 1993, we are a 110-voice auditioned community choir known for our dynamic performances, diverse repertoire, and commitment to excellence. Our season includes four concerts, including Handel’s Messiah, diverse Christmas and pops concerts, and major choral works such as Mozart’s Requiem and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday evenings, beginning late summer and culminating with our choral masterwork concert in early May. We are an inclusive ensemble dedicated to enriching lives through choral music and community engagement. We welcome your application if you are excited about this role and our mission.

  • Demonstrates strong vocal pedagogy and rehearsal leadership.
  • Brings excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Is eager to collaborate on programming, outreach, and fundraising.
Responsibilities
  • Conducting all rehearsals and performances.
  • Planning repertoire and engaging guest artists.
  • Auditioning and mentoring choir members.
  • Collaborating with the Board, staff, and volunteers on strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Representing the choir in the community and media.
Terms

The position requires, on average, 10 to 20 hours a week. A substantial amount of time must be spent in Peterborough, with the majority of the work occurring from late August to early June.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications.
