This is a physically active role involving the handling of artwork in a range of sizes and weights, as well as considerable travel between galleries on a rota basis.

Working closely with gallery teams, drivers and wider operational teams, you’ll help ensure artwork is moved, packed, delivered and displayed to the high standards expected of our premium product and service.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a varied and practical working environment, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable working independently while being part of a wider team. You’ll be representing DeMontfort Fine Art when visiting galleries and clients, so a positive, professional and helpful approach is essential.

What you’ll be doing

  • Driving across the UK to our galleries to provide practical support to gallery teams.
  • Safely moving and manually handling artwork on a daily basis, including pieces of varying sizes and weights.
  • Supporting gallery teams with the movement, delivery and positioning of artwork.
  • Attending client homes when required to assist with the safe movement and hanging of large and considerable-sized pieces.
  • Using ladders safely to hang artwork, with appropriate training provided.
  • Packing and wrapping artwork to a high standard when transporting or moving stock between locations.
  • Preparing artwork carefully for transportation, ensuring it is protected and handled appropriately throughout the journey.
  • Supporting artist events, gallery openings and other business activities where artwork movement or installation is required.
  • Supporting gallery teams with stock movements, deliveries and collections.
  • Maintaining well-organised, safe and efficient stockrooms across our gallery network.
  • Supporting accurate stock control, scanning and stock movement processes.
  • Ensuring artwork is handled, stored and transported with the appropriate level of care at all times.
  • Working closely with gallery teams and wider operational colleagues to ensure movements are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Following agreed procedures for artwork handling, packing, transportation and stock control.
  • Reporting any damage, issues or concerns relating to artwork, equipment, vehicles or stockrooms.
  • Maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach when working in client homes and representing the company.
  • Ensuring company vehicles and equipment are kept clean, safe and in good working order.
  • Complying with all Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental and Corporate Responsibility requirements.
  • Following company procedures and maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.

What we’re looking for

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Confidence and experience driving across the UK.
  • Previous van-driving experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Experience in a physical, logistics, warehouse, delivery, installation or similar hands-on environment would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable with regular manual handling and moving artwork of different sizes and weights.
  • Comfortable working at height and using ladders, with training provided.
  • Experience handling valuable, fragile or premium products would be beneficial.
  • Experience with stock takes, stock control or scanning systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling and packing artwork.
  • Reliable, responsible and able to work independently when travelling between locations.
  • Positive and professional attitude with a naturally helpful approach.
  • Friendly team player who can build positive working relationships with gallery and operational teams.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events and client support.
  • Comfortable with considerable travel across the UK and working away from home when required.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of Health & Safety when carrying out manual handling, driving and working at height.
  • Able to remain calm, organised and professional when managing changing priorities.
  • A genuine commitment to taking care of artwork and delivering a high standard of service to galleries and clients.

What you’ll get

  • 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with additional overtime, evening and weekend working as required by the business.
  • Company van provided for work purposes.
