Art Teaching Assistant (SEND Support)

Location: North Tyneside

Pay: £90–£115 per day (PAYE)

Contract: Full-time, Long-Term

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative, patient, and engaging Art Teaching Assistant to support pupils within an inclusive North Tyneside secondary school. You’ll be based mainly in the art department, helping students with additional learning needs to access lessons, build confidence, and express themselves through creativity.

This is a hands‑on role where no two days look the same. You might be helping to adapt materials for a pupil with autism in the morning, supporting small group work in the afternoon, and celebrating a finished project by the end of the day.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils with SEND during art and creative sessions
  • Encouraging self‑expression, focus, and confidence through visual learning
  • Helping to adapt tasks and resources to meet individual needs
  • Promoting positive engagement and independence in the classroom
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and therapists to support progress
