If you have the passion to teach everything from the fundamentals of sketching to the complexities of digital media and fine art, this is the perfect opportunity to make your mark in a vibrant city known for its cultural history!

The Role: Cultivating the Next Generation of Artists

This is a fantastic opening for a proactive QTS Art Teacher to join a well-resourced Creative Arts department in Preston. Whether you are filling a long-term maternity leave or seeking a flexible supply contract, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of artistic expression across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).

You will play a vital role in helping students find their unique creative voice, ensuring they have the technical support and inspiration needed to produce outstanding portfolios and exam pieces.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Dynamic Lessons: Plan and teach engaging Art & Design lessons that cover a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

  • GCSE Portfolio Support: Guide Year 11 students through their controlled assessments and final practical exams, providing expert feedback to maximize their marks.

  • Inspire Innovation: Introduce students to diverse artists, movements, and cultures, encouraging critical thinking and personal expression.

  • Studio Management: Maintain an organized, safe, and stimulating studio environment, ensuring all materials are used effectively and responsibly.

  • Progress Monitoring: Assess student work regularly, celebrating success and providing clear pathways for technical improvement.

What We Are Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, along with a degree in Fine Art, Design, or a related creative field.

  • Secondary Experience: Proven success teaching Art & Design across KS3 and KS4 levels in a UK school.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong skills across various artistic disciplines and the ability to demonstrate techniques to students clearly.

  • Adaptability: The ability to step into a new department and build immediate rapport with students and staff.

  • Compliance: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).

Why Choose Preston with Randstad?
  • Competitive Pay: Daily rates from £150 - £220, paid weekly to reflect your professional value.

  • Creative Freedom: The chance to work in schools that value the arts and offer well-equipped studio spaces.

  • Total Flexibility: Enjoy the rewards of teaching without the long-term administrative burden of a permanent role.

  • Referral Rewards: Earn a £300 bonus for every fellow teacher you refer to us who is successfully placed!
