Responsibilities
  • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
  • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
  • Understand the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering and underpainting
  • Know and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
  • Know the fundamentals and different approaches to drawing media technique
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
  • Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepare progress reports
  • Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school

  • Curriculum Design and Development:
    1. Plan and deliver lessons that align with the latest National Curriculum whilst reflecting the school's ethos;
    2. Maintain detailed schemes of work and resources and share these with the department;
    3. Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches where appropriate, to encourage pupils to see the links between subjects and foster intellectual curiosity;
    4. Be familiar with the provisions of and to act in accordance with the Governing Body's policies
  • Pupil Achievement:
    1. Regularly assess, record, and report on pupil progress, with appropriate actions taken to support and stretch pupil attainment;
    2. Prepare, set and mark homework and internal test

    1. Undertake duties as a form teacher;
    2. Uphold the Catholic tradition of the school, integrating spiritual and moral dimensions into teaching practices;
