About the Role

We are looking for a creative and compassionate Art Teacher to deliver GCSE and A-Level Art to students with MLD and moderate ASD at a welcoming specialist school in Finchley Central, North London. This part‑time maternity cover position (2 days per week – Thursdays and Fridays) runs until the end of the academic year (July 2026). You will inspire creativity and confidence in students through engaging, differentiated art lessons tailored to individual needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver creative, inclusive Art lessons for GCSE and A-Level students.
  • Differentiate and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with MLD and ASD.
  • Support students in developing practical skills, artistic techniques, and confidence in self‑expression.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress in line with school and examination requirements.
  • Collaborate with the SEN team and other teaching staff to ensure consistent support and communication.
  • Maintain an encouraging, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a background in Art and Design.
  • Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Art.
  • Experience working with students with SEN, MLD, or ASD is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
