Location: Quinton, Birmingham
Salary: £220 – £280
Contract Type: Immediate Start – Long Term, ongoing

About Us

This great school is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher with knowledge in creative and expressive arts to join our team. You will also be teaching RE and PSHE occasionally.

The Role

As an Art Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons to students in a small, highly supportive setting. Working with students who have complex SEMH needs, you will play a key role in helping them re-engage with education, manage their behaviour, and achieve academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies, creating a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff, external agencies, and families to support students’ emotional and academic progress.
  • Track and assess student performance, adapting teaching methods to support varied learning styles.
  • Promote personal development, resilience, creativity, and life skills alongside academic achievement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students in a PRU or similar alternative provision.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students with SEMH needs.
