Job summary

Jagex: The RuneScape Company seeks an Art Director to define and champion the visual direction for RuneScape's next era. You will own the artistic vision across environments, characters, UI, VFX, lighting and cinematics for PC and mobile.

You will lead a large art team, set clear creative direction, evolve team structure and raise quality across the live game. Remote‑friendly with onsite options in Cambridge, UK.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Art Direction or senior art leadership in games.
• Proven track record turning artistic vision into in‑game execution.
• Experience leading a sizeable multidisciplinary art team and managing performance.
• Strong background directing stylised or stylised‑realistic 3D art with pipelines and tools knowledge.
• A portfolio showing consistent visual quality across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve RuneScape's visual direction across environments, characters, UI, VFX, lighting and cinematics.
• Lead a large multidisciplinary art team, defining structure, capabilities and standards.
• Maintain a clear quality bar and provide actionable direction to improve visuals.
• Drive cosmetic content quality and value while supporting live game operations.
• Collaborate with Creative, Development and Product Directors to align priorities.
• Improve pipelines and tools with Technical Art and Engineering to balance ambition and live constraints.
• Champion accessibility and readability to support gameplay across PC and mobile.
• Represent the art discipline and contribute to recruitment and long‑term strategy.
