Job description

Be part of an inclusive occupational health team in a job role that requires a Nursing and Midwifery Council registered Adult Nurse/Mental Health Nurse to apply. You will work within a Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT), including Army Individual Training Command clinicians and our partner Capita, to optimise Army training admissions. The role focuses on clinical case work providing occupational health direction under the direction of the Senior Occupational Health Advisor. This role is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational health support and advice to candidates from application through basic training (BT) and Individual Trade Training (ITT).
  • Manage caseloads, conduct audits, provide governance and support policy reviews.
  • Review downgrades, progress of caseloads and referrals to the medical branch.
  • Advise the Chain of Command on occupational employability, deployability, grading and further OH interventions.
  • Provide specialist OH advice on transitions from BT to ITT and from ITT to Field Army.
  • Authorise private health care pathway (PHCP) funding in line with existing policy.
  • Support occupational management of candidates in partnership with Capita and primary health care colleagues.
  • Undergo a criminal record check as part of the selection process.
Qualifications
  • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered – Part 1 of the register.
  • Evidence of postgraduate study within nursing.
  • Evidence of occupational health experience.
  • Occupational health educational background.
  • Current certificate of Hepatitis B, Rubella, measles, and Varicella immunity.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in occupational health.
  • Experience working with individual electronic health‑care records in a military setting.
