Job summary

Babcock is seeking an Armoured Vehicle Crew Leader at Bovington Camp, Dorset. You will supervise a team of 6-10 personnel, oversee maintenance activities, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards over a 39-hour week, Monday to Friday.

You’ll drive and operate qualified military vehicles, learn in-house systems, and pursue security clearance. The role supports national security objectives and offers a path for hands-on leadership within a large defence organisation.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Good computer literacy and the ability to learn new in-house systems.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to undertake regular manual handling activities and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Must be aged 21 years or over due to licensing restrictions; full UK driving licence required; able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a team of 6-10 personnel and supporting their development through performance reviews and training.
• Inspecting equipment and compiling job cards detailing Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance requirements.
• Checking completed maintenance work and closing team job cards to required standards.
• Identifying servicing items, consumables and spare parts to support maintenance.
• Driving, operating and maintaining military vehicles for which you are qualified and ensuring maintenance work is completed safely.

Job description

As an Armoured Vehicle Crew Leader, you'll supervise a team of 6-10 personnel carrying out maintenance and repair activities on military vehicles and equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to combine leadership responsibilities with hands‑on technical work, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards while supporting critical defence training and operational requirements. Day‑to‑day you'll be:

• Supervising a team of 6-10 personnel and supporting their development through performance reviews, coaching and training identification.
• Inspecting equipment and compiling job cards detailing Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance requirements.
• Checking completed maintenance work and closing team job cards in accordance with required standards.
• Identifying and demanding servicing items, consumables and spare parts to support maintenance activities.
• Driving, operating and maintaining military vehicles for which you are qualified and ensuring maintenance work is completed safely and correctly.

The role is based onsite at Bovington Camp. The set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 39 hours per week.
