Position: Area Sales Manager – Timber and Construction Products

Industry: Saw timber, carcassing timber, construction timber, pallet wood and packaging material timber, Canadian lumbar, machined whitewoods, saw milling, decking and fencing timber

Area to be covered: South East, Anglia and Southern part of East Midlands

Basic Salary: £50,000-£60,000

Benefits: Fully expensed hybrid car + full benefits package

Overview

The role of the Area Sales Manager – Timber and Construction Products will involve field sales, selling a manufactured range of timber products into builders merchants, timber merchants and buying groups. You will build and manage an existing portfolio of clients, dealing with order values from £12k to £250k. The position covers over 200 active accounts across a large territory and requires frequent travel.

Responsibilities
  • Field sales position, selling a manufactured range of timber products
  • Selling into builders merchants, timber merchants and buying groups
  • Building relationships and managing existing portfolio of clients
  • Managing order values from £12k to £250k
  • Taking over an established region with over 200 active accountsFour and a half days on the road visiting customers, half a day working from home/admin
  • Planning sales journeys (6-12 week journey plan depending on account value)
  • Responsible for 100,000m3 of materials
  • Covering away night shifts and site/customer visits due to territory size
Qualifications
  • Proven field sales track record, selling timber (or related) building materials to builders merchants, timber merchants or buying groups
  • Experience selling to national, regional and independent merchants, especially buying groups
  • Experience handling order values up to £250k
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Autonomous work style
  • Great relationship‑builder/account development skills
