Overview

Area Sales Manager – Designer Paint

Job Title: Area Sales Manager – Designer Paint

Industry Sector: Architects & Interior Designers, Paint Merchants, Decorating Merchants, Hardware shops, Builders Merchants and high end independent retailers / stockists

Area to be covered: East Midlands & East Anglia

Remuneration: £35,000-£50,000 + 10% Bonus & uncapped stretch commission

Role and Responsibilities

• Field sales position selling 2 high end designer paint brands as well as 1 trade paint brand (5% of sales promoting designer wallpaper)
• Area created through growth
• 90% account development role of circa 150 customer accounts (majority of these are decorating centres with tinting machines, smaller amount time spent with interior stores, interior designers etc.)
• 10% new business development, predominantly within the trade brand and builders merchants
• Customers typically turnover between £20,000-£90,000 annually
• Approx. 80% branches are from nationals decorating centres such as Brewers and Dulux and 20% independent interior stores, interior designers etc.
• Taking over our clients’ smallest area nationally with a turnover of circa £2m, huge potential on growing trade brand paint
• Typically 3-4 days a week on the road, remainder working from home/ admin

Ideal applicant

• 2-3 years field sales experience
• Ideally sold interior aesthetically pleasing/ design led products
• Must have sold into retail/ distribution customers such as; decorating centres, builders merchants, retail showrooms, independent retailers etc.
• Ideally sold a premium/ high end product
• Must be IT literate
• Can do/ glass if half full mentality
• Autonomous in nature
• Open to various high end interior design led products such as: paint, tiles, carpet, wallpaper, sanitaryware, high end kitchens etc.
• Consultative in approach excellent relationship builder, but also a closer
• Knowledge of designer paint is not required
