We are looking for an experienced and passionate Area Operations Manager to lead our services in the Peterborough area. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and driven leader to join one of the UK’s most respected learning disability charities and make a real, lasting difference. This is a permanent full‑time role and, due to the requirements of travelling to services, you will need to have a full UK licence.

Area Operations Manager responsibilities

As an Area Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for a number of services across Peterborough and the surrounding region. You will lead and inspire a team of Service Managers to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred support that helps people with a learning disability live the life they choose. You will also ensure that our services meet regulatory standards and Mencap’s quality expectations, while maintaining effective management of budgets, resources and staffing. You will work closely with local authorities, families and communities to strengthen and develop our services, ensuring that continuous improvement is at the heart of everything you do.

Qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has strong experience in social care management, ideally within a learning disability or similar setting. You’ll understand what outstanding care looks like and will be efficient in leading teams, managing compliance and driving performance. Above all, you will bring empathy and a genuine passion for making a positive difference. A relevant Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, or a commitment to work towards this, is essential.
