Job Title

Area Manager (South)

Location

South of the UK, regular travel with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

Leading growth, sales, customer service, operations, team leadership and site management within the wastewater services business.

Key Duties
  • Manage area branches and collaborate with Senior Management to devise and implement strategy for sales and profit maximisation.
  • Oversee Operations and Business Development, ensuring full 360 relationships between Sales and Operations.
  • Drive operational business development and lead internal structure supporting growth, recruitment and business planning.
  • Act as Senior Key Account Manager, providing escalation for major contracts.
  • Direct Operational Leads and teams to deliver safely, on time, cost and quality, reporting on branch activities for efficiency.
  • Lead strategic objectives, develop profit centres for financial success.
  • Own all P&L elements for area branches, including financial reporting, cost monitoring and financial controls.
  • Oversee Project Management, quoting, planning and delivering projects time, cost and quality.
  • Manage people, develop performance management and career progression for employees.
  • Analyse business data, writing reports, and achieve KPI requirements of contracts or frameworks.
  • Ensure legal and Health & Safety compliance across the business, implementing ISO9001 and ISO14001 policies and procedures.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholder groups and promote business wide objectives.
  • Manage sites, assets and safe systems of work.
  • Promote business development and support organisational objectives.
Requirements
  • Current valid driving licence.
  • Dynamic role requiring regular working outside of core hours.
  • Regular travelling requiring overnight stays at short notice.
  • Participate in emergency cover rotation, on call for a week at a time, including over weekends or bank holidays every few months.
Competency & Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of the wastewater industry and the ability to guide the business in technological developments.
  • Senior level sales experience in wastewater industry as Key Account Manager or similar, customer experience front and centre.
  • Minimum of 5 years senior level industry experience.
  • Engineering degree/HND or equivalent, or qualified by experience.
  • Previous experience in water/engineering equipment and water industry/environmental experience desired.
  • Commercially astute with excellent business acumen.
  • Organised workload prioritisation and systematic approach to deadlines.
  • SMSTS – Site safety management desirable.
  • IOSH safety qualification minimum, knowledge of H&S in construction industry.
  • Experience managing NEC 3 Contracts.
  • Project management training and experience, planning and coordination, using PM tools such as Microsoft Office/Project, Gantt charts.
  • Proven people manager with experience delivering time critical projects.
  • Confined spaces to City and Guilds – preferred.
  • Excellent MS Office and presentation, written and oral communication skills and customer service skills.
